BWH Dermatology Medical Student Virtual Research Symposium 2023

 

Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Dermatology is proud to announce its Third Annual Medical Student Virtual Research Symposium taking place on Wednesday, May 24 2023 from 11AM to 3PM EST.

BWH Dermatology has a longstanding tradition of supporting inquiry, investigation, and innovation in dermatology and is recognized as a leader the field. We are pleased to host this unique Virtual Research Symposium exclusively dedicated to highlighting medical student research accomplishments in dermatology in a national forum. We welcome submissions from a broad variety of research topics and look forward to showcasing your accomplishments.

Visiting Clerkship Scholarship for Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine

 

The purpose of this clerkship scholarship is to provide underrepresented minorities in medicine (URiM) with financial need the opportunity to complete an away rotation or clerkship in the dermatology department at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. This scholarship is for URiM who are interested in pursuing a career in dermatology and special consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.

Two scholarship awards for the amount of $1,500 each will be available to complete a rotation during Summer/Fall 2023. This funding can be used to cover travel and housing costs.

Application deadline is May 31th, 2023

Diversity Visiting Institution Program (VIP) Scholarship

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Dermatology is committed to supporting a diverse population of dermatologists to meet the diverse needs of the city, state, and country. They understand that an essential way to meet this goal is to support diversity, equity, and inclusion through the education of UIM medical students with interests in dermatology. Thus, they are delighted to offer this year two scholarships to support a visiting rotation at UAB Dermatology.

This 2-4 week visiting rotation at UAB Dermatology will provide UIM medical students in their 4th year with intensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of skin disease for those interested in pursuing dermatology as a career.

Each recipient of the scholarship will receive a $2,000 stipend to help cover travel, housing, and other living expenses.

Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2023.

2023 Run from the Sun 5K! 

 

This event supports the Travis Park Dermatology Clinic. All proceeds from this event will go towards the clinic and provide funds for topical and oral medications, supplies for biopsies, and other clinical needs. 

This event will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 9am at the track at Gold's Gym- Medical Center. We will be under the pavilion distributing race day goodies while cheering you on during your run! 

Registration for the race is $20! 

Your cost of registration includes: T-shirt, HEB re-usable bag, Water bottle, Snacks, 2 stickers, Baseball cap (optional, additional $15)

The DIGA Southern Dermatology Spotlight 

 

A virtual event created for medical students interested in Southern dermatology residency programs and the work they are doing. The event will feature Southern dermatologists commenting on the opportunities offered at programs in the region and the unique opportunities and research being conducted.

  • Additionally, there will be a virtual research component for students to present their research abstracts.

Submission is due April 14th.

UTSW Skin of Color Clerkship

 

All visiting medical students who are interested in Skin of Color dermatology are encouraged to apply to the clerkship. This 4-week program will provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and stipend support (up to $1,500) to two fourth-year medical students.

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have been disadvantaged because of economic hardship, educational disadvantage, and/or other social/personal struggle.

Applications for the Skin of Color Clerkship will be accepted until April 20th, 2023. Applicants selected to participate in the Skin of Color Clerkship will be notified by May 1st, 2023

National Student Research Forum at UTMB
